The fire coals or sometimes called pebbles, only appear on a few fires which don’t have a closed burner section. The coals serve two functions, the first is to allow heat to be emitted to the area surrounding. The second is to function as a safety device and are manufactured so that the combustion in the fire is optimised. If the coals or pebbles are assembled incorrectly it can cause harmful gasses due to incomplete combustion.
