There are two different types of electrode, the flame sensing electrodes and the ignition electrodes. The ignition electrode also known as a spark electrode, is responsible for causing a spark that starts the flame in the burner. The flame sensing electrodes are responsible for checking the flame in the burner, this is important as if the flame is not burning correctly or not at all then no more fuel will be added .
