The insulation is commonly used inside the combustion chamber and is used to prevent heat escaping through the sides of the chamber, this increases the boilers efficiency. Insulation must be handled with care as it can be fragile and any damage will allow heat to escape, the escaping heat may cause damage to other parts of the boilers which are sensitive to heat such as the PCB .
